Following the passage of Cyclone Garance over the island, the Bras des Lianes water intake and the downstream pipeline became blocked from late morning on Friday 28/02.
As soon as the red alert was lifted on Saturday 01/02 at 10:00, Energies Réunion’s teams, in coordination with Cirest and Cise, worked on the equipment (settling tank, screen, etc.) at the intake to unclog the water intake and clear the pipeline of plant debris and rubble, until 14:30.
Continuing this work, and despite the lack of electricity, the teams of Energies Réunion and its contractor ACM carried out a second intervention late in the afternoon of Saturday 01/03 to unblock the bypass (equipment located on a second site downstream of the intake), as well as the filtration screens, and remove all plant debris.
On Saturday at 21:00, water was returned to the pipeline, restoring normal operation and maximum flow to the Dioré drinking water production unit (UPEP).
Late in the night from Saturday to Sunday, the screen at the bypass outlet became clogged again following the floods.
A Cise team intervened at 7:30 to unclog it and restore maximum flow.
Since Sunday 02/03/2025 at 8:30, the Dioré UPEP has been supplied from the Bras des Lianes intake with a flow close to the maximum of 600 m3/h.
This morning, Tuesday 04/03, the UPEP is at maximum flow (640 m3/h)!
A big thank you to the team for restoring the raw water supply from Bras des Lianes in less than 24 hours after the red alert was lifted, despite difficult access to the Bras des Lianes site!
